Exciting Developments at Blue Route Mall 2021

It's the end of the year and time for us to re-cap on some of our notable achievements, growth and development in 2021. There were many highlights this year, and we're so proud of our tenants and team for assisting us in achieving so much!

Firstly, we welcomed some exciting new stores to our mall this year! These include Cotton On, Cotton On Kids, Typo, De Jagers, Tiger Wheel & Tyre, Jet Home, Personalised4U, Aman Persian Rugs, Torga Optical and The Look! We are so excited to welcome these new tenants and have noted the support that they've received from our mall visitors. We're proud to offer you a more diverse shopping experience with as many popular store options as possible.

Cardies and Cell C relocated to new premises within the mall and this change will also allow us to incorporate a new-look Standard Bank branch. Both Pick n Pay Clothing and Clicks have also revamped and are brighter and even more welcoming and accessible to their visitors. Lace Up has also rebranded to Street Fever, so come visit us to see all the new and exciting changes.

Blue Route Mall is passionate about the environment and sustainability. We've made so many important changes in the way we operate our property these past few years. As some of you may have noticed, we've been working toward being a plastic-free mall! Our #banthebag initiative is growing with even more of our stores and retailers eliminating plastic bags from their premises entirely.

We've made notable improvements to our building and operating procedures. Part of these initiatives includes the full recycling function we have in our waste yard where we sort and minimise the waste generated within the mall. Currently the mall manages to recycle on average 95% of the waste including glass, tin, plastic and cardboard. Hazardous waste is disposed of within the regulations and with required certification thereof.

Further to this, our public bathrooms make use of borehole water for both toilet flushing and irrigation. Our added provision of rain water tanks provide an additional backup water supply.  The rain water we collect is used by our car wash facilities on the premises together with biodegradable products. The same rain water is also used for the cleaning and sanitising purposes in the mall’s waste yard. We're so passionate about saving & recycling water to be as eco-friendly as possible.

Our mall also features permeable paving in large sections of the car park ensuring that the rain falling on the paving soaks into the ground instead of needing to be diverted into storm water systems. By doing this, we are protecting the groundwater levels in the area and assisting our community with their water-saving efforts.

We also remind you that Blue Route Mall has the added benefit of uninterrupted power supply in the event of power outages and load shedding. We're always bright and ready to welcome you at the mall for an uninterrupted shopping experience.

We look forward to even more developments in 2022 and would like to take this opportunity to thank our loyal tenants, patrons and visitors for your ongoing support thoughtout the year!
